The Saint-Marcel Eysseric collection

Workshop Gipsy presences

The Saint-Marcel Eysseric collection comes from a Haute-Provence photographer (1860-1915). It is now property of the Archives départementales des Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. In this collection, a folder of 12 photographs was named "Bohémiens" (Gipsies).
The Archives départementales des Alpes-de-Haute-Provence published a book in 2012, about the photographer Saint-Marcel Eysseric (1860-1915) and his works in Haute-Provence [1]. Two IDEMEC members, Marc Bordigoni and Danielle Musset, wrote articles for this book. For this book, some representative photographs of the lot were selected in the "Bohémiens" folder. They are proof of gypsies presence in this area at that time (end 19th - beginning 20th century).
With permission of Jean-Christophe Abadie, a copy of the article dedicated to the "Bohémiens" photographs is downloadable in this page.
