Production : Radio Télévision suisse (RTS)
Length : 48 minutes

When football becomes a whole people’s hope... This documentary is an ethnological analysis of Italian and Valaisian football fans.

Firstly in Naples where unemployment, decay and corruption gangrene the city, the Italian tifosi of Naples’ team are anxiously waiting for the match between Napoli and the Juve: this Italian championship’s meeting shows the strong antagonism between northern and southern parts of Italia. The Neapolitans are trying to take control of their own destiny, and each victory of their team is a sign of the back dignity. Staging, magical rituals and practices, all means are made to serve this purpose that goes beyond sport.

Secondly, in Valais, the Sion Football Club’s setbacks are breaking hearts to the supporters who want to show a triumphant image to the rest of Switzerland.
